ABOUT REWILD
We are two guides genuinely obsessed with Iceland.
REWILD is a small, family-owned tour company created by us, Barbara and Carlos, after years of exploring, guiding and building a life in Iceland.
We moved here by choice. Not because Iceland was easy or comfortable, but because we wanted to live closer to nature, explore more, learn more and give our daughter the freedom to grow up surrounded by wild places.
Five years later, we're still exploring. And still finding reasons to stop the car. A strange rock. A hidden waterfall. A road we've never taken. Berries beside the trail. A mountain with a story. A change in the weather that completely transforms a place we've seen a hundred times.
That curiosity is where REWILD comes from.

We don't just work here. This is how we live.
Before REWILD became a company, exploring Iceland was simply what we loved doing. Over the years, that curiosity turned into experience.
Today we're professional driver-guides and certified glacier guides, with training and knowledge across wilderness safety, first response, geology, volcanoes, glaciers, Icelandic history and the environments we travel through. But qualifications are only part of what makes a good guide.
You have to pay attention.
To the weather.
To the road.
To the landscape.
To the tiny things most people walk past.
And, most importantly, to the people traveling with you.
Because we don't believe everyone should experience Iceland in exactly the same way.
MEET CARLOS
Wild at heart. Observer by nature.
Give Carlos a wheel and a wild road and he's in his element.
From driving super trucks on glaciers in whiteout conditions to taking modified jeeps through challenging Highland river crossings, he knows his vehicles and knows how to read terrain.
Carlos loves a challenge.
But rather than rushing into one, he wants to understand it.
The vehicle. The river. The terrain. The weather.
What is difficult? What is possible? And where is the limit?
That methodical, observant nature is exactly what makes him someone you want behind the wheel when Iceland gets wild.
And then there's the other half of Carlos.
Get him talking about Iceland and suddenly the mountain you're looking at has a story.
He's fascinated by Icelandic history, sagas and folklore and is a natural storyteller. Spend enough time with him and elves, trolls and the characters hidden throughout Iceland's landscape start to seem surprisingly reasonable.
He'll take care of the road.
And make sure you remember the journey.

Curiousity is her compass.
Barbara likes to know what she's standing on. Literally.
Her fascination with geology and volcanoes comes from wanting to understand the landscape around her: how it was created, what is happening beneath it and what might happen next.
But she's just as interested in the small things.
The rocks beneath your feet. The plants growing through the lava. The berries along the trail. The tiny details that can tell you so much about where you are.
And she watches people with the same curiosity.
What catches your attention? What makes your eyes light up? Do you want to keep moving, or stay here another ten minutes?
For Barbara, guiding starts with noticing.
She's a certified glacier and ice-cave guide and Wilderness First Responder, and she believes that being prepared is part of being able to explore your environment freely.
And she's usually ready to go outside and see what the day brings. Rain, snow, wind, fog or sunshine.
Different weather doesn't ruin an experience.
It creates a different one.
MEET BARBARA
There's actually a third person behind much of REWILD.
Our daughter has been exploring Iceland with us since she was tiny.
She comes hiking. She explores the Highlands. She plays outside in Icelandic weather. She listens to her dad's stories about the mountains and notices tiny things her parents would otherwise walk straight past.
Raising her here has changed the way we experience nature too.
She reminds us that being wild doesn't mean being reckless.
It means being curious. Getting dirty. Asking questions. Testing yourself. Respecting your surroundings. And having the freedom to discover what you're capable of.
We don't only guide this way.
We live this way.
OUR FAVORITE
LITTLE EXPLORER

WHY REWILD?
We don't want you to simply see Iceland.
We want you to notice it.
Understand a little more about the ground beneath your feet.
Hear the glacier moving.
Taste the berries growing beside the trail.
Listen to the story behind the mountain.
Feel what rain, wind, snow or silence can add to a place.
And sometimes change the plan because Iceland has something better in mind.
Our job isn't to rush you through a checklist of attractions.
It's to bring our knowledge, experience and judgment, and then pay attention to you.
Because the best experience isn't necessarily the one we planned beforehand.
It's the one that makes you feel something while you're here.
UNLEARN THE TAME.
RETURN TO YOUR WILD.
